FAQ

Please use our enquiry form on the website, or online booking system to check artists availability on your preferred date. When making your initial enquiry, please ensure you have answered all required questions so we have all the information regarding your event. A member of our team will get back to you to confirm the artist’s availability, and will send a quote inclusive of a travel fee (if required). A non-refundable, non-transferable booking fee is required to secure the booking. The booking fee can be paid via bank transfer, as soon as you have made the decision to proceed. Please send a payment receipt to the existing email thread and we will mark your booking as confirmed straight away. A date cannot be held until the booking fee is received. This amount is then subtracted from the remaining balance.

If you’re not sure which artist is best suited to you, please send us an enquiry and we will liaise with you to connect you with the right artist. You can send us images of the work you like, or describe your perfect look and our team will know who would suit you best. Our team is made up of warm and friendly artists who will make you feel at ease on the day. You will always be their priority and they will do whatever it takes to make you feel your very best.

Each artist sets their own hair & makeup rates based on their personal years of experience and skill set. We will do our best to recommend an artist suited to you, that is also within your budget. Pricing ranges from $180 to $300 per service. International and interstate bookings are price on application.

Absolutely. We have a team of incredible hair and makeup artists so we are able to accommodate larger group bookings and also create a more relaxed experience for you and your girls! Each artist has their own unique skill set however they all have a very similar style, in keeping with Carla’s signature soft glam looks. We pride ourselves on having the ability to whip up diverse, unique styles that are customisable to each client.

Due to high demand we are unable to reserve your date without a booking fee. We often receive between 3-5 enquiries per wedding date, during wedding season so we highly recommend deciding if you would like to book with us as soon as possible. We will always do our best to book you in for a trial at your earliest convenience but depending on your artists availability, this may not be straight away.

As far as you need us. Our travel fees start from $50 and are calculated per km from the artist’s home. Carla and other Creative Directory artists often travel interstate and internationally. Quotes for interstate and international bookings are price on application. These bookings may require flights and accommodation to be covered by the client.

A professional makeup application should last the duration of your event with minimal touch ups. Not only are the eyes and skin prepared with skin care and priming products, but your makeup will be set and finished with powders or sprays that help to fix the makeup in place. All the products are chosen for their longevity and high performance in all tear/sweat and weather conditions. Of course, we cannot guarantee how long your makeup will last, as this is very much dependent on your skin type and how long you need it to last. We always recommend a small touch up kit for yourself and everyone in your party. The main products we recommend are; Lipstick – bring a lipstick colour you love and use this to touch up with throughout the day. Lipstick is a very personal item of your makeup bag, however if you would like guidance on popular colours, here are some of our favourites; Charlotte tilbury pillow talk, Charlotte tilbury iconic nude lip cheat pencil to add the perfect nude liner, KKW 90s runway for a pinky peach tone, Mecca lip de luscious nude lip balm to add some shine.
Powder – we highly recommend having a translucent powder with you to reduce any shine throughout the day (some of our favourites are By Terry hydra powder for a dry/normal skin, or laura mercier setting powder for a more combination/oily skin)
Concealer – we advise taking a concealer with you in case any of your makeup comes off as you eat, people kiss your cheek etc. Some of our favourites are Nars creamy concealer for a more matte finish, or armani luminous silk concealer for a dry skin needing more hydration.

We do offer bridal trials and would highly recommend one prior to your wedding. During the trial, we will discuss and try out the makeup style you’ve chosen and tweak it to ensure you feel like the best version of yourself. Your artist can make any changes if necessary. With trials, it will also allow you to wear the makeup for the day and see how it feels and holds up in preparation for your wedding day. Then when your day arrives, we will reassess how it lasted at the trial and see if there’s anything you wish to change. The team will take pictures of the look created at your trial, and make notes of the products used, to ensure we have a clear breakdown of the look and can easily recreate this on the big day! After confirming your booking for your wedding day, a separate booking fee can be taken to secure your trial. We recommend booking your trial at your earliest convenience to avoid disappointment. Most of our artists are booked for bridal bookings every weekend, however they may have some weekend availability for trials during the winter months (when there are less bridal bookings). Each artist works slightly differently, but most trials will take place at the artists studio, or home to avoid travel fees. When your bridal booking is confirmed, your trial can be organised with your chosen artist directly, or our admin team has access to their diary so we can select a time for the artist to approve.

Makeup applications and hair styling services are scheduled for 1 hour. It may take less time, but 1 hour is allocated per person to ensure we have plenty of time. The brides makeup or hair often takes longer, so we allow some extra time when working on a bridal party.

Hair and makeup services take around 45 minutes to 1 hour per service (hair or makeup). This is a guide only and can take less or more, depending on the style chosen. For bridal bookings, we like to have the bride ready 2nd or 3rd from last so she has time to relax and prepare. We arrive at your location with our comprehensive hair and makeup kits, so we kindly request that there is a suitable space, with a table, near daylight for makeup applications, and close to a power point for hair styling. If possible, we ask that all of your bridal party be there when we arrive so we can work through all of the services in a timely manner. We don’t have set schedules for group bookings as we find that each service takes a different amount of time and this is hard to determine until we see everyone, find out what style they would like and how much hair they have for instance!
We aim to have you all ready by the time the photographer arrives, to allow enough time to get dressed and take photos in a calm and happy environment!

Please have your hair washed and dried when we arrive at your booking; you can either wash it the evening before or if you prefer to wash your hair daily, you can wash it in the morning. Please avoid any deep conditioners, leave-in products, leaving your hair product free, and blow dry your hair as smooth as possible. Please don’t straighten your hair. We can discuss any hair accessories including veils in order to find your perfect style, but it is by no means necessary to bring anything with you. It is just important to find a hairstyle that is perfect for you and the look will only be enhanced with your hair accessories on the day. It’s also helpful to get a selection of images together showing styles that you like, don’t worry – they can be completely different looks – it will just give us an idea of the makeup style you like. It’s not necessary to send us the images in advance, we will ask you for them on arrival to your appointment. When selecting images, we highly recommend browsing the work of the artist you have booked, as they will know exactly what this entails, however any visual reference is helpful. If you’re trialing your hair and make up for your wedding, we recommend having a spray tan, if you plan to do so on your wedding day. This will help to achieve an accurate representation of the look on the day.
